First time in my 2 years of driving diesels this has happened, or at least the first time I’ve noticed it.
Averaged 24mpg this tank. 297 miles of 100% city driving. Not bad, but not great either. Lots of TDI folks say the short city trips aren't good, but I feel like they're not bad enough for me to get a different car.

Not quite as dramatic as in April, but I was pleased to find that in Linton Indiana there was a gas station that only sold regular unleaded (no mid-grade or premium) and did so dirt cheap.
My paranoia made me a little nervous it might turn out to be what I knew as “regular” growing up (leaded) but after some rumination I decided that was silly.

In canada, its cheaper diesel in summer, and more expensive diesel in winter.
Its great for the merc, as it gets towing duty in summer.

As far as i know the only thing you can get lead for is aviation fuel and 101 race gas for 8+ a gallon.

I just wish they had come up with a new word instead of repurposing “regular”.

But how long has it been since leaded fuel cars were prolific? My understanding is that lead is not compatible with catalytic converters, so we’re more than 40 years removed from having a majority of cars on the road use leaded fuel.

I didn’t claim it was rational.

The main issue with short-tripping a modern diesel with emissions equipment, is that the particulate filter doesn't have time to burn-off and clean itself.

I think you could still get it in certain rural areas up through the 90s for agricultural use and poorer areas due to older cars .
And not just cats, O2 sensors rapidly clog throwing the whole fuel air mix off.
